a recent drawing

Today I worked on a print all day and it came out the way I wanted it too but I used part of one of the first pulls in this drawing. I like this drawing which is why Im sad it is going to be used in a exchange, its always the way. This first image is a close up of the print I cut up, it was in a early state of the print with a shine colle from a woodblock I did in the past.

Bellow is the Drawing, a combination of drawing, paint and print.

My two new favorites…

I love these but as usual they are collaborations and soon enough they will not look like this so as usual I need to share them with the world before they no longer exsist! Let me know what you think. The layering and color are really exciting for me also, the combination of mark making is quite interesting.

The renewed woodblock

This is not finished but today I pulled a woodblock for the first time in almost a year and well I was actually happy with it! Sadly enough I did not pull many first states so I will be doing a lot of varied images with this block as a key component.

Updated collaboration drawings

the newest version of our collaboration drawings, myself and Nicole Winters… I really enjoy some of the integrations and layering that is occuring.

Integrating the figure…

I’m going to keep updating this post with works I do about the figure or that I believe are based off the figure. Today’s drawing was one of the first to truly be driven by the central figural element. Now there was never a goal at rendering a perfect carbon copy of a human just the hints of the form head, shoulder, knee, ect. I like how the figure remains the point of focus but only after you come to it through the fruit like forms that surround her.

The printed drawing…

I guess you could say that my work as a print maker has always been to mimic the drawing and well I’m almost NEVER successful but in my most recent print I’d have to say I may have figured it out!  I was using a soft ground which has been my recent addiction and well I finally got something right. The image contains different textures which were all the product of graphite sticks and pencils. You can feel the soft point of the pencil as if it were the drawing itself. I’m not sure where the print stands if you have any opinion please let me know but I am rather happy with the outcome thus far. Enjoy.

drawings that made me crazy for no good reason

These drawings came from an assignment about hiding and revealing, I wish this was more natural but when ever I seem to think about these things I can’t do it, but the second I stop trying I get it! Anyway, I’m still working with the idea and I do like some of the shapes and draping, so this project will continue!

New Collaborative drawings

I’ve been posting the states of the drawings that Nicole Winters and myself have been passing back and forth and this is the next state! Enjoy because they will never look like this again.

Works from last year… they needed more recognition.

Below are a series of images that were from last semester final project, however most of my new images are drawn from all my previous works and they never got the attention they deserved. They are primarily drawings in colored pencil and the absence of information contrasted with a graphic web was what I was truly working towards. The first image was from a series of drawings based off the idea of pods. The images after are all different renderings of the same idea. The round object represented the remains of something that had broken down/decayed and was being pulled together by the web which was the interconnecting force among the pieces, like a life line.

this image is not completed in this photograph once I photograph it again I will update the image.

Watercolor studies… lets put a figure back in there!

The first image was a continuation of the previous post, just messing with composition and webbing . The other images are purely studies, I have been curious to integrate a figure back into my images since a lot of my charcoal images have a sense of skin and body references. I decided to draw the body how I enjoy to draw the body which typically means elongated and not quite proportioned.

This next image of the hands is a study to reassure myself that I can still draw a properly rendered hand.
