a complex web

Well, after attempting to try one type of image for my collaborative project I decided all the previous drawings sucked…. but these ones are pretty great. These watercolor washed webs really have inspired me and I’m trying to push them larger. Currently the biggest one is about 20 by 30. My colors have not really worked themselves out yet but I’m still experimenting.

studies for a collaborative project…

these are some rough sketches of a collaboration project I’m doing with Sarah Manson from Ireland, they are still only in their beginning states.

The color print…

Well lets just begin with saying that this project was very intimidating since I primarily feel comfort in black white and gray tones, but considering the facts I was pretty happy with the outcome. Bellow are the final print some variations and collaborations. Enjoy.

My two new favorites…

I love these but as usual they are collaborations and soon enough they will not look like this so as usual I need to share them with the world before they no longer exsist! Let me know what you think. The layering and color are really exciting for me also, the combination of mark making is quite interesting.

Updated collaboration drawings

the newest version of our collaboration drawings, myself and Nicole Winters… I really enjoy some of the integrations and layering that is occuring.

new shapes and forms…

Since I’ve been working on complete tonal images I have had such a desire to draw something that is a bit more graphic and less defined. Thus the images bellow developed. The shapes evolved while working on a collaboration project and have started to tell their own story!

I’ve been really interested in line quality and the way shades of grey are used within an image.

This is the most recent version of this piece.

I wanted to be able to work larger while not getting to precious with the work so I’ve been doing a few images that are on a heavy duty craft paper which allows me to work as large as I want this is about 4 feet tall currently.

This was the initial image to have these circular shapes and I love it but it wont be around much longer, this is one of the pieces from the collaboration and I have handed it back to Nicole for her to do her layer. Sad face.
